In fact, the owners of much of the content are the ones primarily responsible for the creation of Hulu. It was the combined brainchild of NBC Universal, ABC Inc., and Fox Entertainment Group, with additional funding coming from Providence Equity Partners.
Additionally, the videos on Hulu are supported by commercials, which provide further funding. The content on Hulu is currently only available in the United States due to licensing and copyright issues, although at one point they made a failed effort to expand into the United Kingdom.
