Yes I agree, children should be able to contact their birth parents when they are ready! You can be 20 or 30 it doesn't really matter.

This answer depends on the child.

Adoptive parents are cautioned against resisting this request from an adopted child. The child simply seeks a greater and broader understanding of self, which might be more possible upon meeting the birth parents.

An adopted child should be given some information about the birth mother, her age, height, interests, etc. He or she should not be allowed to see her or know her until grown. You do not want her interfering with the way you are raising your child. You do not want contact behind your back. When your child is self supporting, then your child should have that information. You will still be the one who raised him, who stood by him through thick and thin. Still, she can answer unanswered questions. At that point their meetings will probably be short and brief and filled with information. It will be like hearing a few family stories from a distant relative. It will be important, but it will end. You will still be the one who raised him.

For now, you want to avoid interference and problems.

What rights do birth parents have to get in touch with their adopted child?

In the United States the rights of a birth mother to contact an adopted child are determined by state law. If an adoption agency handled the adoption, then the birth mother has no rights until the child is of legal age. After that, the adoption agency will usually help the birth mother find the adopted child.

What is the difference between closed adoption and open adoption?

In an open adoption the birth parent(s) are allowed to visit and contact the child. The child may not know them as mom or dad but rather as aunt uncle or cousin. In a closed adoption the birth parents have no contact with the child what so ever. Also, in a closed adoption, the adoptive parents have the right not to tell the child they are adopted if that makes life easier. I was adopted in a closed adoption.

Can a adopted child receive their birth parents social security?

are u that stupid? your child can take it!

What is a closed adoption?

A closed adoption is where, after the child is adopted, there is no further contact withe the birth-family, except maybe annual letters. I am an adopted child and I highly recommend closed adoptions, because once they're open- they stay open. Guaranteed.

When can a foster carer have contact with an adopted child after it has moved on?

You can't contact the child until they are adults unless the adoptive parents let you. When they are adults they decide for themselves.

How many adoptive parent's tell the child that they are adopted?

Well if the child is adopted before he or she is able to keep any real memory of the adoption the adoptive parents may tell him or her that he/she was adopted when the child is old enough to understand. Telling a child that the were adopted is hard to do, the child will have millions of questions like where is my birth parents, why was I adopted, and you may not be able to answer the. So advise to those telling their child they are adopted write down all the facts you know about the adoption like when it happened why it happened and if their birth parents want to be contacted. If the child was older say 6 and on when he/she was adopted they will know about it and will have questions. In some cases a child isn't told that he/she is adopted and may never know unless they find out on their own.

Is there laws against adopted minors communicating with birth parents?

The law that says you are a minor and your parents decides over you. There are open adoptions so if the parents agree with each other when the adoption take place the child and birth parents can still have contact. That is not legally enforceable though and the adoptive parents can change their mind at any time.

What is the point of adoption?

An adoption is where a child is "adopted" by another couple who is not their birth parents. This gives a child a nice home and a good future...

Should adopted children be allowed to contact with their birth parents?

Yes at some point in time. Eventually the child will find out about the adoption and it's not fair not to discuss the adoption when you feel it's the right time. Of course there are laws and some States won't give out the information as to whom the parents are. Some parents that have given their child up for adoption don't want to meet with their child for reasons of their own. If you know the mother, father or both then call them and discuss it and arrange a meeting with your child and their birth parent's.

How do adoptive parents relinquish or voluntarily terminate parental rights of their adopted 16 year old who does not want to live with them?

You're this child's parents now. Yes your child might not want to live with you.... but handle this as if the child was your birth child and make a decision that you would stick to if the child hadn't been adopted.

Why was maria Burton adopted?

For the same reason that any child is adopted by loving parents: the child needed a home and the parents wanted a child.

Can you adopt a child after their adopted parent dies?

Once adopted the child becomes a part of that family just as if they were born into it. If the adoptive parents die the socialworkers will ask the relatives and if they can not the child will go to foster care and up fpor adoption again. But the birth parents can never adopt the child back.
