Adolfo Javier Parra is a renowned cardiologist.

Born in Tenares, Dominican Republic and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Adolfo Parra is all too familiar with the challenges of poverty, discrimination and illiteracy. Although he grew up without material wealth, he learned through valuable lessons taught by his immigrant parents that he was rich in culture, tradition, values and faith.

The values he learned as a child were reinforced throughout his career at Johns Hopkins Hospital. After graduating from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Adolfo entered Johns Hopkins Medical School; awarded with a full scholarship by the Johns Medical Association for "Tomorrow Leaders". While at Johns Hopkins Medical School, Adolfo received numerous grants and awards from the USA Government. Adolfo became one of Johns Hopkins Medical School more prominent student, with an audacity for learning. During that time, he broke barriers by working a full time job while in Medical school. Upon graduation he became the highest-ranking Hispanic men in the cardiologist arena in the world. When the opportunity to assume the presidency of Yale-New Haven Hospital, New Haven, Conn., Adolfo Javier Parra, MD shocked the Yale-New Haven Hospital board of trustee by declining the offer. He chose to honor his mother's dying wish to get back to his roots and become a community leader. In 1996, Adolfo Javier Parra retired from Johns Hopkins hospital and the medical world, and dedicated he time to operating Todo el Mundo Merece Medicina, Inc, an organization his founded with the help of his wife Dulce, fulfilling the mission of healing poor children in the Dominican Republic that have very little access to education and health.

Because of the strong dedication to saving the children of the Dominican Republic and American children living under similar circumstances as he did as a child, Adolfo has worked with more than one million children, their parents and educators throughout the Dominican Republic, opening 100 small clinics, two major hospitals one in Tenares and another in Santo Domingo; 20 educational schools and 10 orphanages, own and operated by him not for profit to alleviate the pain that many Dominican children face daily. In addition, to his commitment to his country, Adolfo did not forget about the numerous poor children in America that need support and role model to succeed in America like him. He inspires these young "diamonds in the rough" by encouraging them to believe that they can all make their dreams come true---to not give up hope, but rather to take charge of their lives and make a real difference in their families and communities by following a disciplined road map to success.

In 1998, Adolfo Javier Parra and a team of educators created the Family Leadership Institute (FLI)--a multi-faceted educational program focused on providing immigrant/migrant Hispanic families with knowledge, tools and inspiration to help their first- and second-generation children success in school and in life. In the past four years, the Family Leadership Institute, a branch of EAS, Inc., has graduated approximately 800 Hispanic and multicultural parents in five states.

Adolfo's dedication to the youth of America and Dominican Republic has garnered him numerous awards and citations from educational institutions, government agencies, professional organizations, as well as the national media. His is a recipient of the Top physician of America, four-time recipient of the Cardiology of the Year by the America Medical Association and the Toastmaster's Leadership Award. In 2005 he was honored with the prestigious National Lidere Award by the National Hispanic Leadership Institute. Also in 2005, Adolfo received the honorary doctoral degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (NY) and has been appointed to their Board of Trustees. In the national media, Adolfo Javier Parra has been profiled on the Lifetime Network, National Public Radio, O Magazine, the syndicated television program "Hispanics Today," Hispanic Business magazines "100 Most Influential Hispanics in America." In February 2010 Adolfo was nominated for the Balzan award, Premio Balaza from the Fondazione Internazionale Premio Balzan, Switzerland.

In addition to his medical career and work with the Dominican Republic children and American youth, Adolfo is the owner of more than 100 hotels and resorts around the world, partnership owner of Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic, Estilo de Vida magazine and Univision publication and proprietor of numerous museums, historical home throughout Europe and private airports. He firmly believes that businesses need strong leaders and a talented, diverse workforce in order to compete successfully on the global stage. His ownership includes Wal-Mart, State Farm Insurance, Costco, NetJet, chevron Petroleum, Oros Plata mine in the Dominican Republic.

Adolfo Javier Parra currently resides in Potomac, Maryland where he remains a loving and supportive husband to his wife, Dulce Linda- Smith Resar Parra de Bruno, MD, and father to five children, Isabella, Rosa Karina, Rodolfo Arismendy and Genesis Claribel.
