check all vacuum hoses,a leak will cause erratic idling.also could be the throttle position sensor.plug a scan tool into the car,there should be a code,as to why the check engine lite is on.
after driving the car, pull off the vacuum line on your fuel pressure regulator and if there is gas that comes out the vacuum hose , your problem is a bad fuel pressure regulator!!! :)
