Temp gauge sensor is on the intake manifold near the thermostat housing.
If you cant find your 2000 F150 4.2 V6 Temp. gauge sensor on the intake manifold, try looking underneath the engine. Back of driver side cyl. head that's where I found mine sensor was broken off. Jumper this connection turn key to on position, if gauge goes replace sensor.
