Remove the radio and see if everything is normal. If yes put another one (known to be working well) in and see if the car starts. If yes then the older radio is faulty. If not then get the electrical system (including battery alternator) thoroughly checked.
THEY MAY ALL BE ON THE SAME FUSE, CHECK THE FUSE BOX FOR A BLOWN FUSE

No. There is no illumination, speed or retained accesory power in the factory radio. It is accomplished with car's CANbus communication. To hookup illumination wire on 2006 VW Jetta, tap into white/black wire at the light switch. It dims your lights on your radio. You can also set up different color for day and night.
Roc Royal is shy when it comes to radio talks but he's a daredevil (he want to try almost everything) (I just dont know why he's so shy sometimes)
dude....you dont want to do that...unless you want your dash lights not to work...
turn the knob on the left side of the steering wheel on the dash. It will brighten the dash, and radio lights by turning it to the right and it will dim the lights by turning it to the left.
the baterry
The dash lights and lights to the gear shift panel are grounded through the radio, be sure that the radio plug and ground to radio are connected. If you have taken out the radio you may try grounding the plug wire that connects to the radio lights.
sounds like you have overloaded and blown a fuse or relay check fuses . disconnect power source for radio recheck fuses.if dash lights come on, find a different point for power supply for radio. actually you should connect radio to accesories .lights dont take as much power as radio
Start with new fuses...
if your illumination wire is bare and touching the radio it will short it out

Because the car needs all the power it can get to start so you heater and maybe radio cut out for a few seconds.
it's probably because you forgot to light up one of the lights. I suggest you start over and double check before light up the other lights. Another reason is that you're not stopping at the lights when there are signs saying stop at the lights.
bought 80 corvette , i need to figure out how to run vacum hose to the head lights . This car , i have to start from scratch . No hose, need how run hose to fix heads lights
YOU DONT If you are talking about a controller, do it when the lights start flashing on the guide button, or just wait for it to die and then replace them.
